Ghent, Belgium, April 25, 2017 – Developers now are able to partner with leading PDF library company, iText Software, to market add-ons to iText 7. The iText 7 Platform allows software developers to create add-ons, while iText provides international sales and marketing support. With this “outside-in” way of innovation, iText expands the functionality of its core iText 7 engine to respond to specific customer requirements. This relationship also provides the development community with revenue sharing opportunities and access to the commercial market. “We’ve received countless requests for...
“Be nice to nerds. Someday you may end up working for one”- Bill Gates In case that does happen to us, we are beginning our quarterly Dev Thank-You blog! There are so many people that contribute information to us in order to help improve our code, products and projects. We want to make sure that our top contributors are being recognized for the help they give and that they know how much we appreciate them (not just because they might someday be our bosses). We have a few top contributors from different channels for Q1 2017. StackOverflow top contributors by username (...

Bienvenue! We are back from Documation in Paris. Our team was in stand E07. And, you may have seen them out on the show floor getting to know the other vendors and visitors while talking about document workflow and how we can help. We also had a talk “Lost and found: Data and the document lifecycle”, where we discussed document flow and some best practices for your data processes. We were pleased to hear from our customers that they consider iText Core as a fantastic tool to optimize performance. And, that our four add-ons plus last developments (Digital signature, PDFXFA, PDF to Data) were...

Introduction iText 7's new add-on pdfHTML is a tool that aims to greatly simplify HTML to PDF conversion in Java or .NET. This is a straightforward and uniform use case, so many users will get satisfactory results with the one-line code sample below. For more complex usage, you may need to provide some configuration to pdfHTML. In this post, I will attempt to explain why you may need to use the config options, and how to use them. Basics The default way to use pdfHTML is either one of two basic one-line code samples: HtmlConverter.convertToPdf(new File("input.html"), new...

iText at Devoxx US
We are back and recuperated from Devoxx US in San Jose, CA. Although we are regulars at some of the Devoxx events, we were happy to attend the first US version. Our minifigs worked hard to set up a fun experience this year. We had our first ever iText photobooth at the event, and it was a hit. If you want to see all of our photobooth pictures you can check them out on our Facebook page . We also had a popular raffle for some lego sets, that had some pretty happy winners. All in all, we had a great time talking PDF with you...
pdf2Data
Pdf2Data is a tool that allows for structured data to be extracted from similarly structured text documents. The way that this is done is through the use of rules to define the location of text that should be extracted or the format of the text. Through the rest of this blog post I’ll describe the basics of how it works and then show how it works with a simple example. To begin, let's look at how the rules are defined to choose the text you would like extracted. You can define the areas with either, the pdf2Data web app, or with Adobe reader's comment feature. Once you have selected the area...
